 How long is normal for car to "boot up"?

I have an 05 545. When I start the car, it takes an inordinately long time for the car to "boot up" (for the "BMW" logo to go away on the screen, and for the disclaimer warning to come up; and for the radio to turn on). I just timed it - 37 seconds. This is annoying in mostly small ways, but the main annoyance is that it makes the Park Distance Control less useful when leaving a parking space, because the "radar" screen isn't displayed until I'm long gone.

So, is a 37 second boot-up normal?

Thanks.

Mine is usually somewhere around 10 or 20 seconds.

The car takes 28 seconds to boot up.

The boot process starts when the trunk or door is unlocked.

I always unlocked my car from afar, by the time I get in and start the car, the iDrive comes up instantly along with PDC.

If you have CA, you will sit and wait for the computer if you need PDC since the boot process does not start until you touch the door handle.

So you're saying it should always be 28 seconds? Seems long, but mine is longer - I did just time it at 37 seconds. Maybe I need a firmware upgrade. I didn't know that the "boot sequence" will start when you unlock the car. I guess that explains why it always seems longer to boot up when I leave in the morning - I park my car in my garage, and don't lock it there. So it's not booting up until I get in the car.

Question - what's "CA" mean?

CA=Comfort Access.

When was your car made? A software update could certainly speed up the boot process...
