Hey, I was looking into leasing a 550i or a 530xi sedan and I was just wondering when the best time would be to lease the vehicle? Two more questions...How much should I put as a down payment and is the 550i worth $8000 more?

3) probably not, although in a lease, you're only renting part of the $8000

Down payments on leases always puzzled me.
For example if your payment if $1000 per month for 24 month, that is $24k .
If you put $2400 down, and your payment drops to $900 per month, why not just leave the $2400 in the bank and draw on it each month to make up the extra $100.

Quote: | But wouldn't a down payment reduce the monthly payments? | It in fact would reduce the monthly, but remember, unless you can deduct the lease, its money you are throwing out the window, so it makes more sense to spread out that money over the life of the lease, and keep in in some account and earn interest on it etc. etc.
Also, the best time to lease are when BMW is running a promotion and the MF's are at their lowest and residuals are at their highest- check the "Ask a dealer" thread for this months rates.
