I went and test drove a 550 last night. I was ready to order an '06 when the sales manager informed me that he had only one production slot left for 2006 models. I was a bit surprised. It turns out the '07's start production in March.
He gave me a copy of Dealer Bulletin (dated Jan. 19) outlining the changes:
- The Sport Package will include "Comfort Seats" in place of the Sport Seats. That's great - I was going to pay extra for those!
- The Sport Package now includes the Sport Steering Wheel. OK. Silly me but I thought a Sport Package would include a Sport steering wheel. I think this is the wheel that has been coming on the SMG models and the M5.
- There is an Auxiliary Audio Input jack (iPod) inside the center console.
- HD Radio will be an option like on the 650.
- "Night Vision". This doo-dad will display night time "thermal images" on the iDrive screen. Requires the Nav system.
- Tire Pressure Monitor. The bulletin mentions this but I thought they already had it.
I could not get any pricing differences. They'll give me that we I place the order. I think these are good changes and worth waiting an extra 6 weeks for. I also like being able to get the HD Radio. There are more and more stations broadcasting in HD here in Southern California.

Sorry - but I do not have ready access to a scanner.
No mention of a facelift and no mention of any color changes. It does say "The MY07 5 Series will start production in March 2006 to comply with the CARB emission requirements." It also says "MY07 5 Series cars are now available for ordering and modifying, full pricing information will be released at a later date.".
This information is from an offical BMW document (Bulletin#: 07-5-01). My dealer (Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, Calif) has always been upfront with me and given me good info.

Thanks for the info! Any word on whether the 2007 production date and changes apply in whole or part to the 650i?
