How would you compare the steering stiffness of the non-active steering 530 sport to the new 3 series? My 330 sport is very stiff (which is a good thing for me) but I'm wondering if the 5 series has softer steering in the current model year. Thanks in advance.

I drove a non AS 550 back to back with a 330i w/o AS about 4 times over the course of a month. The 330 had much stiffer steering - very sporty - very linear. I saw no need for the AS in the 330 - however I loved it in the 5.

I have a chance to go back to Germany and was thinking of a 530 sport/stick but I really love the stiff steering in my 330. The lease rates on the 530 right now are so low that it would cost the same to have a 530 sport/prem/nav/stick as my current 330.
I know, I know....only a test drive will satisfy me.

The 550 I extensively test drove (back to back with the 330) did NOT have AS. So I was driving two non AS cars back to back and the steering was much lighter in the 550.
The first 550 I drove did have AS and I loved it -thus I ordered it on my car.
