 A dilemma - '05 545 or '06 550 - your help?

Hello All -

So I'm struggling with a decision. I have 5 months left on my MBZ E500 lease. The Benz is a nice car, but reliability sucks, so I've decided to go bimmer.

I can get a very well equipped (nav, sport, HUD, comfort seats, prem sound, sat radio, cold weather, fold down seat) for $1200 over invoice, and the dealer's money factor is .00115. If I did this, I'd roll my remaining lease payments ($2900) into the lease - but with the money factor, the payments are still reasonable.

The alternative: wait 5 months, finish the lease, then go for a 550. I spoke with a dealer who said they'd do the 550 at $1000 over invoice (I was surprised about this - but he said I could order a car then and there). This is pretty damn good -- assuming he's still willing to do it in 5 months -- though I'm sure the money factor's won't be anywhere near as good. I'm banking on the residuals going up some, putting the $2800 additional that I'd spend now into the lease in 5 months, and keeping payments close.

I'm leaning towards waiting - 3 yrs from now, the 550 will be worth more than the 545, and if I like the car I'd consider buying out the lease at that point.

So, there's my dilemma. Any advice?

Ira

NO Brainer Order 550 The rates will come down on 550 In Oct. BWMFS just lowered the rates on ALL Wagons to .01 and other 5 series to .014to.016 So I think by January u will see a good rate on 550 as well

I think your analysis is correct. I wouldn't throw away 5 months of lease payments to get the 545i. The 550i may cost slightly more in terms of the MF, but not $2800 more.

DO ED and save even more. Munich is nice in March. Lease payment residual is based on US MSRP and u pay ED invoice +XXXX. Such a deal only in America.

Time it right and you can turn in the old car at about the time the new one arrives in us.
