 XiT Sport Package

Hello all -

I am getting ready to order a 2006 XiT and I am considering the sport package, mainly for the "shadowline exterior trim". I suspect my wife won't be too excited with the sport seats, though.

Does anyone have the part #'s for the sport trim and possibly know the cost?

Thank you for your help. The forum has been exceedingly helpful with my purchase decision.

Actually, many people say the sport seats are quite better than the standard seats. I am of the opinion that nobody should order a 5er without the comfort seats, which are excellent- the best seat you can get in any car anywhere.

That said, I believe the sport package on an XI model will come with the sport seats, shadowline trim, 18 inch wheels with run flats, and a sport tuned suspension. XI models don't get ARS, so IMHO its not really worth springing for the SP on an XI model- put that money towards the comfort seats and install some shadowline trim yourself. That said, sorry I don't know the part numbers! I'm sure somebody out there does.

There is NO sports-tuned suspension on the XI / XIT as well as no ARS, these features can be found in the NO AWD versions (530i & 550i) in their sport package options.

The XIT Sports Package is as follows:
- 12-way power front sport seats with power adjustable thigh support
- Shadowline exterior trim

Great Seats and that's about it.

Overall the XI is a great vehicle and everything I have expected so far.

Isn't the Shadowline Trim orderable separately as a "Priority 1 Option"? If you are in the USA, I think the option is called "Satin Chrome". Check out yvesj's "New E60 price calculator" post in this forum. Look towards the bottom of the left side of the spreadsheet for option 339. That would at least save you the trouble of putting the trim on yourself.

Also - if you are in the USA - for any E60 with an "x" in it's name, the Sport Package is just Shadowline Trim and Sport Seats. If you want the 530i-style Sport Package wheels (style 123 according to the BMWUSA web site), that'll set you back an additional $600. If you want the sport suspension (like I really really do), you'll have to look to the aftermarket.

Why can't BMW be a little more like Audi in this regard? You can get the S-line package on an A6 with Quattro, which is roughly the same thing as the Sports Package on a non-x 530 (wheels, seats, suspension, etc.). I know - you can't get an A6 with a stick, and A6's don't have ARS (at least, in the USA).

shadowline trim looks nice. i have heard mixed things about sport seats. i didnt like the way they hugged my ribs. i did not get the sport package. the 18 inch wheels look cool but they come with runflats which are not recommended for snow/ice. not for me..the xi t has been great so far. handles beatifully and i love the wagon..

IMHO, the shadowline trim looks nice, but is not a major factor to me, since the chrome trim around the doors make the vehicle look more luxurious. The 18" rims defeats the purpose of having an XI in the winter, so the best part of the sports package are the seats. I have to say they are more snug and secure than the standard seats, especialy when taking those turns. Again it may not be worth it to you if you are happy with the standard seats.
