Is there a big difference in sound quality between the premium sound and the basic sound in the 06/530I?

Yes. A huge difference. If you at all value music, you owe it to yourself to spring for the premium sound.

I agree with M530 that the Premium sound is worth it, however I have not heard the stock sound systems. With upgraded speakers and 2 subs the premium sound system sounds awesome and besides if your the kind of person that loves to listen to music, just like in your home you want the best sounding system available.

I've heard both side by side, and the folks at BMW should be ashamed of their stock sound system.

I agree with your really, really long arms comment. That CD Changer might as well be in the back seat or somewhere else unreachable!

Another funny thing is that CD Changer is mounted so far back in the glove compartment that there is a huge gap all around it, so you can see the wiring and hardware of the front of your vehicle which is slightly disturbing. I mean at least cover that up, so I don't have any chance to stick anything in there. It just gives it that unfinished looks, but doesn't matter since it's hidden in the glove compartment.
