I've seen the posts here about the remote trunk release being a fine art.
This problem appears a little different:
When pressing the remote release on our 2006 530xiT, it works about 3 out of every 4 times. On the times it fails, you can hear the mechanism engage for a second, but then it seems to stop in mid-cycle before the lock is released. Pressing the button a 2nd time always works.
The strange part is that it seems to always work perfectly when pressing the hatch release on the car.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Thanks

Yep. But I think it might be due to not holding the button down quite long enough. It hasn't happened to me in the last few days and I open/close the hatch 3-4 times a day.

However, don't think it's due to not holding the remote button down long enough.
Once the opening cycle starts, it should finish and not stop in the middle. You can hear that it everything is activated, so clearly it is getting the signal from the remote, but then stops half-way through the unlatching cycle. Seem like a software glitch to me.
Next time this happens to you, listen carefully and see if you can hear everything activating.
Thanks again

Now that you mention it, maybe it is a software glitch. My software was updated Friday morning and since then it hasn't happened.
In case you haven't seen my posts on the other thread, the software update cured the "High Battery Drain" warning issue and also now makes it unnecessary to push the iDrive controller to get past the warning screen. It disappears in about 10 seconds and goes right to the iDrive menu.

That's promising news. Let me know if it continues to work OK. I tried ours 5 times in a row and it will misfire at least once.
Can you find out what version of the software they installed so I can make sure the local dealer has the latest/greatest?
Thanks again
