06 525 - Any Luck w/Audiovox SMT5600 Bluetooth
Picked up a '06 525xi. Looks like the Audiovox SMT5600 Bluetooth connection still isn't working well. Phone identifies call, and connection is made but only lasts 20sec. No phonebook download.
Let me know if anyone else has better luck.

You can check out spv-developers.com for all the info you need (but it will take some time to figure it all out). Once you've got your phone so that it can take the newer ROM, you can load just about any ROM for the SMT5600 and it's siblings. Just make sure you make a backup copy of your ROM before you start (make one backup of your entire ROM, and make another backup of just your OS).
You also might want to check with Cingular to see if they have a ROM update, If you have the "Blue" (AT&T) version of the SMT5600, then I think you'll have a hard time finding a ROM update.

Let me know if anyone else has better luck. | I have the same problem on my 05 530i using the audiovox smt 5600 which I bought on ebay and I unlocked afterwards. The phone works when it wants to, many times the call comes in and either it works or you just can't hear anything and the car speaker makes a load beep. I gave up on it and ended up using my razr v3 which works as expected(great). I doubt I can upgrade to WM5 since I bought the phone on ebay and it is not supported by any carrier. even if you bought if from ATT and cingulair is now your carrier I don't think they will upgrade the software. its a shame b/c i think it is one of the coolest smartphones out there. I was planning on getting the samsung i750 pocket pc phone once available, but I doubt it will also synchronize with the car.
