Looking to buy a 2004 525i
I'm looking at buying a 2004 525i. I'm only 23 years old, but I'm making decent money now, so I figured "why not treat yourself a little". Here's my problem, I would go out and buy a new 2006 3 series since that’s more in my budget, but I'm 6' 3" and I think that car is a little too small for me. Besides that, I love the way the 5 series looks. The thing that scares me is that when I was reading about the 2004 525 it only has 184hp. At the moment I have a 04 accord with over 200hp that moves along pretty nicely for Honda. Basically my question is: Does this car have any guts or is it all for looks? Now, I would love to get the 545, but I just can't afford that. Should I just look for something else? I'm not looking for a car that I can outrun police or anything, just something that can move. Maybe that 184hp is deceiving, I bought a S2000 when it first came out and that thing blew my mind with a 4 banger. Any input would be appreciated. For $37,800 I want to make sure I'm getting my moneys worth. I know this car can handle, but will it really matter if it can't move? | | Reply » Looking to buy a 2004 525i | Quote: I'm looking at buying a 2004 525i. The car has enough on the low end to feel powerful, but it is lacking a little on the high end. Also, the 2004 model year has a few reliability issues due to that being the first year the car was produced.
That being said, if you have a "little" extra time and money, why not try to do European Delivery on a new '06 525i? You'll save a lot of money if you shop around (you could get as good as $1000 over ED invoice- check the Ask a dealer forum for the pricing), the car has a fairly big bump in hp/torque, you'll get a vacation out of it....etc. etc.
Good luck on whatever you decide, keep us posted!

I was dissapointed about the cup holders, floormats, the bluetooth and Ipod compatibility.
But at the end of the day I love my car and have been able to find compromises for the things I didn't like with the help of this forum (Thank you to the helpfull comments from everyone). Good luck
